Polar Night

I have found my inspiration for the new collection in the mysterious phenomenon of the Northern Night: the time when the sun forgets to rise and the whole cities, villages and countryside are drawn into the darkness for the long long weeks.

The night it self is romantic and dangerous at the same time. Everybody loves the white snow dancing under the yellow light of the street lanterns, fresh frosty air in the afternoon when the whole world changes from deep navy to light blue or violet. The danger is that it is easy to forget the beauty of the world when being in the dark for such long time.

When it is dark outside, people are looking for warmth and light inside, surrounded by friends and family. They are looking for enjoyment which will cheer them up like the sunny day would. They are drawn to the light and exposed to the risk of loosing themselves in continuous hunt for pleasure.

There is one sensation which everybody is waiting for and which compensates for all troubles experienced in course of the winter: The Polar Light - The explosion of color on the endless sky, the explosion of emotion in the people’s heart, the One and Only True Love.

My spring/summer collection, Chinese Baroque, is inspired by the powerful encounter of the clean sober lines of Chinese basics with the frills and exuberance of European baroque.

This combination reflects the contemporary China: an energetic mixture of the New with the legacies of an ancient civilization; and the very nature of IrisG woman: Sharp minded, professional, wild and passionate at the same time.
